I went to Central Market after work today to wait out traffic, as one does in Houston. I used to be a die hard Trader Joes fan-girl but after a few trips to Central I have been converted.. THERE ARE SO MANY MF OPTIONS! It took me a solid 25 minutes to decide on which feta cheese to buy. It was an expensive trip, but I've realized that high-quality ingredients are worth the investment. My stomach was aching last night after a Mexican dinner at El Tiempo (overate those damn tortilla chips! what's new!) and I became re-aware of how important my body's overall health is. More money on ingredients now, less money spent on healthcare later? 2018 mantra anyone?
I've been reading Food: what the heck should I eat by Mark Hyman and my overall mindset has changed. Everything we eat is processed and/or drowning in pesticides which is truly unfortunate. I've been a fake health hoe for so long that I had to unlearn a lot of things; fat isn't actually bad for you, calorie count doesn't really matter, frozen berries/veggies are better. It's been a process and hey, maybe all of these groceries will end up expired, unused, and in the trash can.. but hopefully not! and maybe I'll lose some weight along the way!
So here's some of the items I picked up today:
My total grocery bill ended up being $100! I forgot to take pictures of my Lily's Dark Chocolate Chips, Fresh Feta Cheese, and Rice Ramen but I think it was a pretty solid deal! Here's to taking care of my mind, body, and spirit. Peace out for now, the salad I made for dinner is calling my name.
