Quotes #6

Let's get real. Who has the time to sit down and read a book nowadays. With such a busy schedule it's something that always gets pushed down to the bottom of the to-do list. However, I'm learning to make time for reading again, as it brings me joy and expands my mind. I read Kelly Cutrone's book "If you have to cry go outside" recently and here are some of the passages I highlighted.

“Your inner voice is the voice of your soul.”

“Dreams won’t always take you on a straight path to destiny, but they’re usually related to what your soul wants for you.”

“You find out who you are by figuring out who and what you are not”

“So many mothers say they want their daughters to be independent, but what they really hope is that they’ll find a well-compensated banker or lawyer and settle down between the ages of twenty-five and twenty-eight in Greenwich, Darien, or That Town, U.S.A., to raise babies, do the grocery shopping, and work out in relative comfort for the rest of their lives.”

“In breaking away from the familiar and expected, you’ll be forced and privileged to face greater challenges, learn harder lessons, and really get to know yourself.”

“Sometimes in life seasons don’t come in order; instead of fall, winter, spring, summer, we get three winters in a row.”

“Being “spiritual” and being “nice” have absolutely nothing to do with each other, contrary to the popular notion that “spiritual” only refers to vegans in Whole Foods whispering to each other.”

“It’s not actually that hard to have it all; you just can’t have it all in the same proportion or at the same time.”

“These experiences won’t always take you on an express train to your true purpose an calling in life, but they’ll teach you lessons you’re supposed to learn.”

“A plant won’t grow as high if it’s reaching towards five or six suns.”

“Ultimately I’d rather be the one living the life than observing and making catty comments about it.”

“The best way of helping others is to transform oneself. Be perfect and you will be in a position to bring perfection to the world.”

“Worldly success and divine transcendence are not mutually exclusive. Fame and success will not bring you happiness without a deeper knowledge of yourself and a connection to something greater than yourself.”
